Meadhbh Boyd (Fiddle) joined the Turloughmore Ceili Band in 2006. She is currently approaching her final year studying
at University College Cork for an honours degree in Music. She has been involved in traditional music from a young age
playing the fiddle. She took part over the years in fleadhs and various competitions at a national level , winning a few titles
in group and solo catetgories. She has been a member of many traditional groups and the Cork Symphony Orchestra.
Meadhbh is also a keen composer; having written for various ensembles in the contemporary classical genre and traditional
Irish music. Her music has been featured on various CD and TV productions including the recent award winning music
channel Balcony TV and Conor Keane's 'Jao de Deus' album. She has been classically trained on both violin and piano, and
while she does not consider the classical genre her main focus it has surely helped her along in understanding the
instruments.
